Mike Gollmer Bio

(Bass and Vocals)

Growing up in the vibrant city of Philadelphia, known as the City of Brotherly Love, Mike developed a deep passion for music early on. He began his journey at the age of seven with his first guitar, accompanied by the sounds of his portable AM radio. As he reached his teenage years, he expanded his musical tastes to include the soulful melodies of R&B and Motown, which led him to switch to the electric bass. His early influences included iconic musicians like James Jamerson, Larry Graham, Bootsy Collins, and Carol Kaye. The advent of album-oriented radio in the '70s opened new musical horizons for him, allowing him to explore bands like Yes, Kansas, Rush, and King Crimson. In high school, Mike joined fellow musicians to form a band, performing in local venues by the age of 16. At 18, he toured the United States with an Elvis tribute band, captivating larger audiences. Recently, Mike relocated to the vibrant Charlotte area and joined The UpTown Party Band, eager to share his rich musical experience with a new audience.
